Professor Frank James will reprise the Royal Institution’s Christmas Lecture by Michael Faraday in 1860 entitled The Chemical History of a Candle – Frank will be in period costume for the talk, illustrated with experimental demonstrations with candles (all safety precautions observed!)
Frank will show how Faraday’s lectures remain as relevant today as in the 19th century, using archival records to communicate science.
Professor Frank James is Head of Collections and Heritage Royal Institution and Professor History of Science, University College London.
No scientific knowledge required – please join us for Frank’s talk which will follow the short AGM. The evening has been extended to 8.30pm for festive drinks and chat, making the seminar our Christmas special.
